About The Position

Newbury College is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Electrical Installation Course Leader and Lecturer to join their Construction department. This role involves teaching full-time learners, adult provision, and electrical apprenticeships within a modern Construction Centre. The college focuses on career development, working closely with employers to ensure learners gain the necessary technical skills, practical competence, and professional behaviors for the electrical and wider construction industries. The department also offers plumbing, carpentry, and multi-trade programs, fostering a collaborative and industry-focused environment.

Requirements

  • A Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • Assessor and Internal Verifier qualifications.
  • Industry experience within Electrical Installation.
  • Experience of teaching or working in an educational or training environment.
  • A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one with college support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within further education, adult education or apprenticeship delivery.
  • Mentoring or coaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality theoretical and practical teaching across Electrical Installation programmes (Level 2 and Level 3 adult courses and apprenticeship provision).
  • Teach key electrical principles and industry-standard practices, supporting learners from entry level to advanced technical understanding.
  • Cover areas including Health and safety in building services engineering, Electrical science and principles, Electrical installations and wiring systems, Inspection, testing and fault finding, and Design, environmental legislation and industry compliance.
  • Assess learner work.
  • Conduct workplace assessments for apprentices.
  • Contribute to internal verification processes.
  • Maintain accurate course and learner records in line with awarding body and college requirements.
  • Support learner progress and provide guidance.
  • Work closely with colleagues, employers, and support services.
