This position is for a Course Lecturer for LING 371 – Syntax 1 (3 credits) section 001 for the Fall 2026 term at McGill University's Department of Linguistics. The course covers the introduction to the study of generative syntax of natural languages, emphasizing basic concepts and formalism such as phrase structure rules, transformations, and conditions on rules. The contract dates are August 31, 2026, to January 5, 2027, with the course running from August 31, 2026, to December 4, 2026. The course schedule is Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:35 AM to 9:25 AM. The location is to be determined (TBA). A Course assignment includes preparation of the Course and Course plan, delivery of the Course, evaluation of students, submitting reports on student attendance and grades, supervision of Teaching Assistants or other teaching support staff, reviewing students’ grades upon request, and meeting with students to answer questions and provide advice concerning Course content and requirements. Employees must perform duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and administrative directives, using appropriate pedagogical methods and materials.
