Electrical Inspector - Drills and Shovels
About The Position
Finning Canada is seeking an Electrical Inspector in British Columbia to support customer‑owned Electric Rope Shovels and enhance the performance and maintenance of mining equipment in alignment with Caterpillar OEM standards and specifications. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining strong customer relationships, conducting scheduled customer visits, and resolving customer concerns. The position also plays a key role in forecasting and supporting future customer requirements to ensure optimal equipment reliability and satisfaction. The job is based in British Columbia supporting Hard Rock and Coal mine sites.
Requirements
- Seasoned Electrician or P.Eng with significant electrical experience or with appropriate mining experience
- Experience in a customer service role
- Electric Rope Shovel and/or Rotary Blast Drill knowledge
- Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLC and Motor Drive experience
- Mining background and experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Electrical aptitude
- Must be able to work in other regions occasionally when workload dictates
- Must be able to stay in camp on customer site when required
- Must be able to work a 7X7 shift work rotation.
- Must be able to work from heights
- Must be able to work outside for extended amounts of time
- Must be able to gain access to Oilsands mine sites
- Satisfactory review of driver's abstract
- Must maintain a valid driver's license at all times
- Agree to provide an annual driver's abstract
- Must immediately inform the Company if driver's license is revoked or restricted

Responsibilities
- Make recommendations to the customer on what components will need to be changed based on technical audits of the machine.
- Support troubleshooting efforts to resolve shovel downtime as quickly as possible.
- Minimize downtime and maintain production requirements as scheduled.
- Schedule customer visits, set agendas, and write reports.
- Send technical analysis to the customers and provide recommended service options.
- Liaise with Finning Parts Department to ensure necessary parts are delivered to Mining customers.
- Develop and maintain open lines of communication with all supportive departments.
- Ensure analysis and maintenance/repair recommendations are provided to appropriate groups in a timely manner.
- Provide solutions in a timely manner.
- Recommend safety solutions.
- Rapidly escalate any machine down situations to the appropriate individuals and/or groups.
- Ensure that 80% of time is customer-facing.
- Ensure machine availability.
