About The Position
Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. is seeking Electrical Helpers for a project in Roanoke, Virginia. The role supports electrical installation and maintenance work in manufacturing and industrial settings. Hired candidates will be considered for benefits and paid time off after three months. The work includes assisting with conduit, cable tray, cable, electrical equipment, testing, inspections, temporary power, grounding systems, and rigging activities.
Requirements
- Skilled in written and verbal communication.
- Able to effectively use all required personal protective equipment and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to safely access property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, elevated positions, and confined spaces.
- Able to meet the strenuous physical demands of the essential job functions.
- Able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
- Able to stand for long periods, bend consistently, work in confined spaces with limited access, work on ladders and in personnel lifts and workboats, and work in awkward body positions.
Responsibilities
- Identify the tools required for assigned tasks.
- Identify safety risks and precautions needed to eliminate those risks.
- Assist with cutting, bending, and running conduit according to blueprints.
- Assist with installation, modification, and fabrication of cable tray according to specifications.
- Assist with pulling cable through specified pathways.
- Assist with assembling and installing electrical equipment.
- Assist with terminating wires and cables to equipment, including breakers, control panels, and distribution systems.
- Assist with testing electrical components for continuity and proper voltage readings according to specifications.
- Assist with inspecting electrical equipment and components to identify hazards and confirm good operating condition.
- Assist with setup and maintenance of temporary power systems.
- Assist with installation and maintenance of grounding systems for equipment and structures.
- Assist with hoisting equipment and tools into position using bull rigging or a crane.
- Complete required safety and general job training.
- Follow SIC and customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
