Electrical GSE Engineer (All Levels)

Impulse SpaceRedondo Beach, CA
$100,000 - $170,000Onsite

About The Position

Impulse Space is seeking Electrical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Engineers across multiple experience levels to help design, build, and deploy the critical systems that interface directly with flight hardware throughout vehicle integration, test, and launch operations. In this role, you will develop robust electrical ground systems that enable rapid testing, seamless vehicle integration, and reliable launch execution in demanding environments. You’ll partner closely with avionics, propulsion, software, structures, test, and operations teams to deliver high-performance EGSE solutions that are safe, scalable, and mission ready. This position is ideal for engineers who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy hands-on hardware development, and want to see their systems operate from initial concept through launch.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience designing, building, and deploying EGSE, avionics integration hardware, or other high-reliability electrical systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical system design fundamentals, including signal integrity, grounding, shielding, and power distribution
  • Hands-on experience with souring instrumentation, hardware integration, electrical testing, and system troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with common aerospace and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, RS-422, CAN etc.) and networking (TCP/IP, CAT5, serial protocols)
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced development and test environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing rack-level systems, harnessing, or enclosure integrations for Avionics or RF products
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX for mechanical integration and layout design
  • Familiarity with test automation, scripting, or controls software (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Knowledge of aerospace ground systems standards and practices (NASA, ASME, API, Air Force, etc.)
  • Prior experience supporting launch campaigns, propulsion testing, or integrated vehicle operations

Responsibilities

  • Own EGSE hardware through the full lifecycle, including architecture, schematic development, fabrication, integration, validation, and deployment
  • Design, develop, integrate, and support electrical ground systems used for engine testing, vehicle integration, and launch operations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with avionics, propulsion, software, test, and operations teams to deliver reliable systems on aggressive schedules
  • Support bring-up, troubleshooting, calibration, and functional verification of EGSE hardware and interfaces
  • Develop interface control documents (ICDs), schematics, wiring documentation, and engineering release drawings to ensure alignment between ground and flight systems
  • Ensure systems meet operational, reliability, and safety requirements for test and launch environments
  • Drive continuous improvement of GSE design standards, integration processes, and documentation practices
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence across the team (senior-level candidates)

Benefits

  • long-term incentives, in the form of stock options
  • medical coverage
  • vision coverage
  • dental coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan
