About The Position

Relative Dynamics is seeking an Electrical/Electronic Field Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of all labs in the Detector Branch at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This is a full-time, on-site position in Greenbelt, MD. This role is not eligible for remote work.

Requirements

  • Technician school graduate or equivalent education in a different field and experience.
  • Up to 10 years of experience in aerospace flight/ground support equipment assembly and evaluation.
  • The ability to precisely follow detailed process instructions from a run sheet and conduct thorough inspections of results after each step.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, including the functions of various components.
  • Skill in performing both mechanical and software troubleshooting to identify and resolve problems in non-functioning equipment.
  • Proficiency in the operation and routine maintenance of specialized lab equipment, such as vacuum pumps, cryo-coolers, spectrum analyzers, and black body sources.
  • Ability to design test setups for detector testing and to adjust, calibrate, or modify circuitry and components to optimize performance.
  • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of all labs in the Detector Branch.
  • Maintain high attention to detail, including the ability to precisely follow detailed process instructions from a run sheet, and to inspect and report on details of results after each processing step.
  • Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Provide written and oral reports on results to project team members as requested.
  • Assemble experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype models using engineering instruction, technical manuals, and knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and components and their functions.
  • Set up standard test apparatus or conceive test equipment and circuitry, and conduct functional, operational, environmental and life test to evaluate the performance and reliability of prototype or production models.
  • Analyze and interpret test data.
