About The Position

The Field Operations Manager manages field employees, project manpower, and the day-to-day operations of the division. This position implements plans and policies to achieve divisional and company objectives and maximizes operating results. The role involves maintaining and enforcing safety on all projects, monitoring fieldwork production, and evaluating/managing operations and employee performance across several large-scale projects. Key responsibilities include coaching and managing the performance of field employees, participating in recruitment, optimizing workforce planning, providing guidance and mentorship, developing quality control methods, scheduling training, setting divisional goals, ensuring policy compliance, and implementing strategies for continuous process improvement. The manager will also maintain positive professional relationships, serve as a technical field advisor, participate in various project meetings, monitor project work quantity and quality, interpret and enforce policies, and promote prefabrication.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in a similar type of electrical construction or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of electrical construction (technology, equipment, methods)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, supervisory, and planning skills
  • Extensive experience/knowledge of electrical construction, national electrical code, design, finance, and management required
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, order of operations) to calculate labor, materials, and/or cost estimates for projects and work orders, etc.
  • Technical knowledge of writing procedures and reviewing documents on a technical level
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language at a minimum 12th-grade level
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Autodesk, Accubid, and Bluebeam
  • Journeyman or Master Electrical License

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and enforces safety on all projects in compliance with our safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the division's fieldwork production to ensure that work is completed to meet or exceed budget constraints.
  • Evaluate and manage operations and employee performance across several large-scale projects.
  • Responsible for coaching and managing the performance of field employees, focusing on their professional development and engagement.
  • Participate in the recruitment process by conducting interviews and onboarding new employees.
  • Optimize workforce planning by coordinating the transfers of both internal and external employees while developing strong teams for each project.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship to employees.
  • Develop and implement various quality control methods.
  • Schedule training sessions for new and existing employees.
  • Set divisional goals and objectives while working alongside the team to achieve these goals.
  • Ensure compliance with established company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement strategies for continuous process improvement.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Serve as a technical field advisor to all project supervision assisting in difficult construction situations.
  • Participate in bid reviews, project turnover meetings, kick-off meetings, progress meetings, and post-meetings to ensure proper scheduling.
  • Monitor the overall quantity and quality of assigned project work.
  • Interpret and enforce policies and procedures for on-site operations.
  • Promote and implement prefabrication at the outset and throughout the entirety of all projects.
