About The Position

The Electrical Engineer reports to the Lead Electrical or the Area Field Engineer and is responsible for the technical oversight of all Electrical activities in his area of the project. The selected applicant shall provide technical direction to the direct hire/subcontractor work force as well as supervision. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the electrical related work. This role is part of the Thacker Pass Project, which aims to be the largest lithium producer in the United States, powering approximately 1 million electric vehicles annually. Bechtel is the EPCM contractor for this project, managing engineering, construction, and procurement. The project is located in north-central Nevada and is designed with sustainability and environmental considerations in mind.

Requirements

Requires an University/B.S degree in Electrical Engineering with 10-13 years of relevant experience is desired but may be waived if 14-17 years of equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated.
Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft is preferred
Contract management experience
Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred.
Experience in mining and metals is preferred
Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including ACONEX, TEAMWorks, Bechtel Productivity System, PTR, eSub and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset.
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.

Responsibilities

Must have experience with construction in all areas of electrical construction.
Coordinate with supervision the work schedule and any material deliveries required
Complete training requirements assigned.
Preparation of electrical work packages
Inspection of field installations and completion of associated documentation.
Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all electrical quantities.
Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
Interface with engineering office to resolve design and constructability issues.
Assist superintendents and subcontractors in constructability and quality issues.
Work with the suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
Prepare material requisitions, coordinate and review vendor drawings.
Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor materials to support the projects schedule.
Interpret design drawings.
Complete material take-offs.
Assure that materials are stored properly to ensure environmental protection.
Material receipt inspections as required.
Reviews specifications, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data.
Assist with preparation of construction estimates.
Recommend design or installation improvements to improve safety on the project.
