Requirements

  • Bachelors degree a plus or equivalent required related experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator, preferably within CECs Core Market projects
  • Must have a current Drivers License and reliable transportation.
  • Must meet attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.
  • Must be able to pass drug and background check.
  • Alignment with companys mission, vision, and values.
  • Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable; ability to work in a team environment and initiative to work alone
  • Ability to work flexible hours, if needed.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed.
  • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
  • Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic or feasibility level documentation.
  • Preparing detailed estimate updates, as the design evolves, including preparing variance summaries between estimates.
  • Understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction cost.
  • Preparing detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific clarifications and comprehensive bid packages.
  • Understanding and negotiating electrical and/or mechanical work.
  • Writing and negotiating subcontracts.
  • Participating and often leading the preparation and presentation of cost / budget information to the Customer / Owner.
  • Actively participating in Value Engineering sessions with the project team and design team.
  • Being a member of the team involved in Request for Proposal Responses (RFPs) and the formal presentation for a project.
  • Developing business with new and existing Customers.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
