About The Position

The Estimator plays a key role in developing competitive and accurate cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects. This position is responsible for evaluating labor, materials, and project complexity to ensure that bids are comprehensive, competitive, and align with company standards. The Estimator collaborates closely with the Senior Estimator, Preconstruction Manager, project teams, and subcontractors to support successful project planning and execution. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction (required)
  • Proficiency in Accubid, Microsoft Excel, or other estimating tools (required)
  • Strong understanding of NEC code, electrical systems, and construction practices
  • Familiarity with CSI format and ability to read and interpret detailed plans and specifications
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
  • experience with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or InSite a plus
  • Field experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage detailed cost estimates based on preliminary, schematic, and construction documents
  • Collaborate with the Estimating Manager, architects, engineers, and owners to develop plans and specifications within budget parameters
  • Coordinate subcontractor bidding and scope reviews to support accurate, complete budgets
  • Analyze plan overlays to identify changes or revisions affecting project budgets or constructability
  • Utilize Accubid to manage bid campaigns, RFIs, and subcontractor communications
  • Review project documents to identify detailed scopes of work across all relevant divisions
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals for alignment with project specifications
  • Build and maintain subcontractor relationships through consistent communication and bid participation
  • Maintain accurate trend cost data to support reliable budgeting on future projects
  • Ensure compliance with local and state building codes, public funding standards, and minority subcontractor participation goals
