About The Position

Star Service, a Fidelity Building Services Group company, is the leading HVAC service provider throughout the entire Gulf Coast, from Texas to Florida. We are committed to providing excellent service, maintenance, and design-build/plan-spec projects for mechanical and electrical systems in commercial and industrial facilities. We are looking for an all-star Electrical Project Estimator to join our Houston team! Our ideal candidate will be highly skilled in estimating commercial, industrial, and municipal projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of preparing estimates and proposals for commercial, industrial, and municipal electrical projects using computerized estimation and digital takeoff software.
  • Must have the ability to provide a complete commercial construction estimate and proposal for either plan/spec or design/build projects.
  • Must be knowledgeable with reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, contacting suppliers for pricing and other documentation in order to prepare timely and accurate labor and cost estimates.
  • Ability to survey electrical systems, interpret drawings, equipment and job conditions.
  • Ability to obtain quotes from vendors on materials, equipment and lead times.
  • Ability to understand/coordinate mechanical construction with other building trades.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with an emphasis on multitasking.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational time management skills.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with good communication and writing abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all aspects of developing preliminary and/or definitive detailed estimates and proposals for labor, materials and equipment associated with Electrical projects
  • Obtaining and evaluating vendor and subcontractor pricing for compliance with project specifications and drawings.
  • Attending pre-bid meetings, verify site conditions and interface with Owners, Developers and General Contractors.
  • Managing the bid preparation and formal written proposal process in its entirety.
  • Electronically maintaining records of all working documents and data to back up estimates and proposals.
  • Assisting, organizing, and prioritizing work in conjunction with sales engineers, project managers, and construction management teams.
  • Performing jobsite walks as needed by other team members.
  • Establishing an active backlog of quotes to ensure the booking goal is met.
  • Communicating with internal & external customers professionally and effectively.
  • Building and maintaining rapport and positive working relations with field, office and management.
  • Ordering equipment and materials as required.
