About The Position

Black & McDonald’s Mechanical & Electrical ICI team is growing! The Electrical Estimator is located in Scarborough and typically reports directly to the Chief Estimator. The Estimator will be responsible for all aspects of estimating and will ensure strict adherence to B&M policies and procedures relating to the estimating process. The Estimator shall also liaise with customers to ensure continuity of work opportunities and with vendors to maintain competitiveness within the industry.

Requirements

Graduate of electrical estimating or construction program
Several years’ experience working in the electrical construction sector
5+ years’ experience in estimating electrical ICI construction work or on P3 projects
Proficient knowledge and understanding of: Estimate closure, Project electrical design interpretation, Construction scheduling, planning, and execution, Organization and time management
Excellent communications skills
Self-motivated and able to work with deadlines
Advanced user of: MS Office (Word, Excel, Project), Accubid

Responsibilities

Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards
Participates in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings
Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors
