About The Position

Ace Electric, established in Valdosta, GA in 1975, is a growing electrical installation company with locations in multiple states including Macon, GA, Atlanta, GA, Jackson, TN, Statesboro, GA, Sanford, NC, and Plain City, OH. They specialize in a full range of markets including commercial, mission critical, education, healthcare, institutional, industrial, correctional facilities, hospitality, military bases, and retail. Ace offers fabrication services, hard bid, design-build, negotiated contracts, and fee-based work, with the resources, professional staff, and project management team to handle almost any type of electrical project. The Electrical Estimator is responsible for all aspects of electrical estimating for the Division office, including analyzing blueprints, writing proposals, consulting with clients, preparing cost and expenditure statements, and assisting in creating budgets.

Valid state driver's license as required by job conditions or by the company
High School Graduate or GED
Minimum of 5-years electrical experience (preferably in industrial or commercial construction)
Ability to comprehend reading of blueprints drawings, and schematics
Ability to comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Handbook
Ability to operate company truck with manual and automatic transmission
Ability to read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions

Responsibilities

Perform all aspects of electrical estimating including composing BOMs, performing takeoffs, inputting takeoff data, submitting RFIs, and writing proposals
Assist the senior estimator to coordinate and streamline the bid process on each individual project
Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work
Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components
Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project
Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
Establish and maintain tendering process, and conduct negotiations
Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction
Review estimate with division manager and project managers once contract is awarded
Assist in creating budgets and schedule of values once project is awarded
