Requirements

Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and industry standards.
Proficiency in mathematics, data analysis, and cost estimation methods.
Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, plans, and technical documents.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
5–7 years of field experience in commercial or industrial electrical work.
3–5 years of experience in electrical estimating.
Experience with estimating software, Microsoft Office, and CAD tools.

Nice To Haves

College education not required—technical training or apprenticeships a plus.

Responsibilities

Turning complex industrial and electrical project scopes into accurate, executable, and competitive cost proposals.
Evaluating project requirements, analyzing drawings and specifications, and performing quantity takeoffs.
Developing labor and material pricing.
Collaborating with operations, project management, procurement, fabrication, and field leadership to ensure estimates are aligned with real-world execution conditions.
Analyzing electrical drawings, specifications, and RFQs to fully understand project scope.
Identifying and quantifying materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
Developing detailed electrical estimates, including conduit, wiring, controls, panels, and terminations.
Preparing labor estimates based on NEC, manpower productivity rates, and site conditions.
Maintaining relationships with vendors and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing.
Evaluating vendor bids and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.
Using estimating software and tools to develop and present detailed cost proposals.
Collaborating with Project Managers and stakeholders to clarify scope and budget.
Tracking actual project costs for use in future estimates and job cost analysis.
