About The Position

Beckwood, headquartered in Fenton, Missouri, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of custom hydraulic presses and automation equipment and is seeking an Electrical Engineering Supervisor to join our engineering team. The Electrical Engineering Supervisor leads a team of electrical and controls engineers, ensuring high-quality design, consistent standards, and alignment with project and estimating requirements. This role oversees key design decisions, reviews and approves schematics, and drives continuous improvement through standardized processes and best practices. As both a technical leader and manager, the supervisor assigns resources, supports team development, and holds engineers accountable for performance. The role partners cross-functionally to ensure coordinated project execution, provides expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders, and contributes to strategic planning, resource forecasting, and occasional project support.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Must be fluent in electrical and controls engineering principles and must be developing engineers at any stage in their career.
  • Ability to make sound assumptions and develop the knowledge base of their team and work to achieve department goals.
  • Understanding of engineering best practices and knowledge of machine design
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and resource allocation.
  • Self-starter who is adaptable to work independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in an interactive group environment are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in designing and starting up a hydraulic or servo driven machinery
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • 2D CAD experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manages team of electrical and controls engineers with varying levels of skill
  • Work with estimating to ensure that estimating techniques, costs, and standards align with design standards as needed
  • Ability to review & sign off on Controls Approvals and schematics, if necessary
  • Facilitate Electrical Team meetings for strategic growth, lessons learned, etc.
  • Helps plan and execute individual goals for their team with a focus on growth and development.
  • Facilitate the creation, documentation & continuous update of Electrical Design standards
  • Assign engineers to project engineers based on capacity and skillset
  • Leverage experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals: A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Drive accountability to team members for their performance
  • Deliver complete, clear and concise communication, containing pertinent information and a call-to-action when necessary
  • Facilitate the development of or develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOP), or work instructions for consistent communications and processes as necessary
  • Monitor employee performance, providing frequent feedback, and deliver formal written reviews annually
  • Assist department manager with identifying resource needs to plan and assess upcoming projects
  • Partners closely with Mechanical Supervisor to promote collaboration
  • May be assigned to tasks on projects (up to 10%)
  • Supports Service team with warranty and non-warranty troubleshooting as required
