Electrical Engineering Manager

Fresh Consulting•Bellevue, WA
•$165,000 - $190,000•Onsite

About The Position

Fresh Consulting is a design-led software development and hardware engineering consultancy that takes products from concept through launch. Its client programs include Physical AI devices, robotics and automation, RF and FPGA-based sensing, and connected consumer products. The Electrical Engineering Manager will lead and grow Fresh's electrical engineering team and own the discipline's people, technical standards, and delivery. The position combines team leadership and client program work, with a stated 50/50 leadership mix. Project work focuses on reviewing designs, setting architecture, and guiding engineers who lead programs. The manager will also guide system-level power distribution and chassis wiring on larger builds. The role is based in person in Bellevue, Washington, with the team, electronics lab, and Issaquah prototype shop. It is full-time and exempt, and reports to the Managing Director, Hardware.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years managing electrical engineers with direct reports, including hiring, performance reviews, and developing engineers into project leads.
  • At least 10 years of electrical engineering experience in product development.
  • Experience guiding at least two products from concept through EVT, DVT, and PVT into mass production with contract manufacturers or ODMs.
  • Broad board-level expertise in analog and mixed-signal circuits, AC/DC and DC/DC power, and high-speed digital interfaces, sufficient to review designs and set architecture.
  • Working fluency in Altium Designer or a comparable ECAD tool for schematic and layout reviews.
  • Experience leading products through FCC, UL, and CE certification and EMC testing.
  • Working knowledge of system-level power distribution, grounding, cable harnesses, and chassis wiring.
  • Client-facing judgment, including scoping and estimating work, explaining trade-offs clearly, and keeping programs on schedule and budget.
  • BS in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a product development consultancy working across multiple clients and industries.
  • Experience with scaled, high-volume products.
  • Compact consumer hardware experience, including HDI, flex, and rigid-flex boards.
  • Medical device development under IEC 60601-1, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
  • Wireless integration experience with BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular, or GNSS, including carrier or PTCRB certification.
  • FPGA, RF, or edge AI compute module integration on custom boards.
  • Industrial controls and panel wiring experience to UL 508A or NFPA 79.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, coach, and develop electrical engineers; own staffing, performance reviews, and career paths; and grow senior engineers into project leads.
  • Identify team skill gaps, plan training, and determine when to hire, develop, or use contractors, including engineers in the Mexico office as that team grows.
  • Set program-level electrical architecture, lead schematic and layout reviews, advise on technical trade-offs, and own electrical design standards and the product development process.
  • Guide project leads through architecture, design, bring-up, EVT, DVT, and PVT with contract manufacturers and ODMs; keep DFM, DFT, sourcing, and FCC, UL, and CE compliance on track.
  • Guide power distribution, grounding, and harnessing decisions with mechanical engineers on larger builds, including automation cells, robots, and computer systems.
  • Scope and estimate electrical engineering work for proposals and RFP responses, participate in client pitches, and identify follow-on work.
  • Partner with mechanical, embedded software, test automation, industrial design, and program management leads to deliver integrated products on schedule and budget.
