About The Position

CesiumAstro is seeking Summer 2027 interns for its Hardware Design Team to design and build electronics hardware for satellite communication systems. Interns will be involved in full-stack hardware development, from concept to in-orbit support, covering high-speed digital, power electronics, and RF hardware. Interns will work closely with design engineers, contributing to company success while gaining experience. Responsibilities include creating schematics and layouts, supporting analysis, and performing hands-on lab work. Specific assignments will depend on project availability and intern interests. This role is ideal for electrical engineering students interested in the rigor of space electronics design.

Requirements

Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), or PhD program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Strong fundamentals in EE topics covered in coursework.
Practical experience designing and building electronics hardware for a research project, competition team, extracurricular activity, prior internship, or advanced engineering course.
Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, and debugging.
Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., conditional resident, asylee or refugee (protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

Strong extracurricular involvement, such as in competition teams or research.
Aerospace experience, such as a previous internship or school CubeSat project.
Advanced coursework or research experience in digital, power, analog, and/or RF circuit design.
Strong programming skills to support hardware bring-up and test (C/C++, Python, MATLAB, etc.).
Experience with SPICE-based circuit simulation.

Responsibilities

Design and build electronics hardware for satellite communication systems.
Contribute to full-stack hardware development, from initial concept through part selection, schematic, layout, build, test, and delivery.
Create schematics and layouts.
Support analysis and hands-on lab work.
Present work to peers, mentors, and executive leadership.
