About The Position

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in Columbus, OH. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for building projects, with an HVAC focus area within multidisciplinary project work. In this role, you'll support project budgets, coordinate with cross-functional teams, document project decisions, and help meet client expectations on healthcare and MEP projects. You'll contribute to highly coordinated building systems work while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design of electrical systems for projects in accordance with code and IMEG standards.
  • Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources.
  • Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files.
  • Coordinate design and schedule activities with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check.
  • Help prepare and issue addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.
