About The Position

Plansee Group USA is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for their GTP site in Towanda, PA. This internship focuses on recycling tungsten and manufacturing premium quality tungsten powders, supporting the U.S. aerospace and defense sectors. The intern will join a motivated team, combining local expertise with global knowledge. This is an hourly position available for summer 2027, with a duration of 3-6 months.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology and/or equivalent.
  • Interest in power systems, industrial electrical design, automation, controls, and manufacturing operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Available to complete the entire 3-6 month assignment
  • Have the right to work in the U.S. without restriction
  • Outstanding problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Accomplished computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and database experience
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in cross-functional teams to deliver concrete project deliverables in a timely manner
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)3, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with NEC/OSHA Regulations is a plus
  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and network systems is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Complete at least one plant engineering project with guidance and mentorship from experienced engineers.
  • Read and interpret single-line diagrams and electrical drawings.
  • Assist with engineering calculations, equipment specifications, and electrical system design activities.
  • Evaluate and justify electrical equipment and component selections based on technical, operational, and cost requirements.
  • Interact and coordinate with contractors daily on electrical construction and facility improvement projects.
  • Learn and apply plant engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist with interpreting and applying National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
  • Learn and apply PLC, HMI, and industrial network configuration, troubleshooting, and programming concepts.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to improve equipment reliability and system performance.
  • Participate in and learn industrial electrical safety practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash awareness, and safe work procedures.
