About The Position

IB Abel is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for the Spring 2027 Semester. This role involves performing general electrical engineering and drafting tasks, as well as other related duties as required by the company. The position is ideal for individuals seeking to gain experience and support construction/electrical utility services within a dedicated, fast-moving team. The intern should be thorough, precise, and a true team player. The role is primarily office-based at the York Office, with occasional travel to other offices, yard locations, trainings, offsite meetings, and customer facilities as necessary.

Requirements

Enrollment in BSEE/BSEET accredited four-year full-time program.
Possess technical writing ability.
Able to work with minimal supervision.
Proficient in the use of MS Office products.
Valid driver’s license required to operate company or personal vehicle for company business.
Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorizations per the Federal I-9 requirement.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of and/or aptitude in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, and Visual.
Interest in electrical power systems engineering field.

Responsibilities

Assist in design of electrical power distribution, lighting, and related systems for commercial, industrial, and substation projects.
Assist in performing electrical engineering calculations and studies.
Coordinate with other engineering, architectural, and construction disciplines.
Coordinate with electric utility companies.
Perform field observations and survey activities.
Perform Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) work.
Interact with customers to investigate and provide recommendations regarding power quality issues.
Copy, scan, and assemble print jobs.
Assist in job takeoff and estimating.
