About The Position

DLR Group is seeking an Electrical Engineering Summer Intern for their Northwest region, with potential bases in Seattle, WA, or Portland, OR. This role is part of the Emerging Professional Experience (EPX) Program, designed to provide interns with a meaningful introduction to the integrated design firm environment and a strong foundation in the AEC industry. Interns will gain hands-on project experience, mentorship, and learning opportunities covering various aspects of the design profession. The program includes mentorship, project work, and weekly learning sessions on topics such as design culture, sustainability, technology, communication, and project management. The intern will work alongside electrical engineers and professionals from other disciplines, contributing to the design of electrical systems for buildings. This is a paid, full-time position running from May 18 to August 6, 2027, and requires full-time participation for the duration of the program. It is an opportunity to apply academic knowledge, build technical and professional skills, and contribute to design solutions.

Requirements

  • Completed at least one year at an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
  • Experience or interest in BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit MEP) workflow.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Interest in architectural building design.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a licensed engineer designing electrical systems for new construction and/or building renovation projects.
  • Attend design team meetings with an electrical engineer and observe the coordination among multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Assist an electrical engineer with the design and development of construction documents primarily using Revit.
  • Visit an active construction site (contingent on the status of local construction projects).
