About The Position

Bevco Engineering is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineering Intern for the summer. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on customer projects while developing practical skills in electrical control system design, component selection, engineering documentation, testing, and manufacturing support. This hands-on internship is ideal for a sophomore, junior, or senior-level Electrical Engineering student interested in gaining practical engineering experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Sophomore or Junior standing preferred.
  • Coursework or practical experience with basic electrical circuits, power distribution, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components such as circuit breakers, transformers, relays, power supplies, and control devices.
  • Previous CAD experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar electrical design software is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate engineering work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, manufacturing personnel, and other team members.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing assigned tasks with appropriate guidance.
  • Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar electrical design software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Electrical Engineers with control panel projects from design through manufacturing release.
  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and engineering requirements with guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Assist in developing power distribution and control circuits.
  • Support electrical component selection, including: Circuit protection devices, Transformers, Power supplies, Relays, Terminal blocks, PLC hardware, Other control panel components.
  • Perform basic electrical calculations and engineering evaluations under the direction of an Electrical Engineer.
  • Develop and update electrical schematics and panel layouts using EPLAN.
  • Assist with drawing revisions, engineering changes, and documentation updates.
  • Produce clear, accurate engineering documentation to support manufacturing.
  • Gain experience creating build-ready electrical documentation used directly on the production floor.
  • Gain practical exposure to UL 508A, NEC, and other applicable electrical standards.
  • Assist engineers in verifying that component selections and panel designs meet applicable requirements.
  • Learn how SCCR, heat dissipation, wire sizing, circuit protection, and physical layout considerations impact control panel design.
  • Work directly with manufacturing personnel to resolve drawing and design questions during panel fabrication.
  • Assist with electrical testing and troubleshooting of completed control panels.
  • Support engineers with design updates and corrections identified during manufacturing and testing.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering documentation, design practices, and manufacturability.
