About The Position

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in Rock Island, IL to work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants on the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. Over 10-12 weeks, this internship offers hands-on experience supporting real project work alongside experienced professionals. In this role, you will support project delivery by assisting with design coordination, documentation, and periodic job site observations while working within project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will contribute to education-focused building projects while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Previous exposure to CAD and/or Building Information Model software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings
  • Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards
  • Support project work within the project's monetary budget while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations
  • Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment
  • Assist with good client relations, project design notebook, and documentation for permanent record files
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical and equipment suppliers
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and instructions from client promptly while monitoring project design progress
  • Assist with review of all project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check
  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement
