About The Position

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in Seattle, WA or the Portland/Vancouver area. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings as part of a team of experienced engineers and consultants. This is a paid internship with real project work and hands-on exposure to building systems design. In this role, you'll support project documentation, coordination, and design progress while working within project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. You'll contribute to work across hospitality, mixed-use, and government markets, supporting high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards
  • Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources
  • Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedules with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement
