SMUD is seeking a junior or senior Electrical Engineering student for a year-round internship opportunity. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the maintenance of hydroelectric facilities within the Upper American River Project (UARP). This project includes 11 reservoirs and 9 powerhouses, providing a significant portion of SMUD's electricity needs. The role involves collaborating with experienced engineers and skilled trades, such as mechanics, electricians, and electrical technicians, in a natural setting. The internship offers a chance to apply academic knowledge in a practical environment and learn about clean energy and innovation. The position requires travel to Pollock Pines, CA, with an option to report to SMUD's East Campus in Sacramento for shorter days or when commuting is not practical due to class schedules. A cover letter is required, explaining interest in power generation, field work, and hands-on collaboration, and why the candidate will be successful. SMUD's College Internship Program provides valuable work experience, workshops, and leadership development opportunities, and has been recognized for its excellence.
