About The Position

NORR is seeking an Electrical Designer to work with the engineering team to develop building-project design solutions that meet the project context, budget, and aesthetic requirements. The role involves understanding design intent and producing efficient technical solutions, while coordinating with other professional disciplines through all project phases. The designer applies knowledge of building engineering systems, materials, codes, and construction technologies. The role offers flexibility to work remotely, from home, or from an office location.

Requirements

Proficiency with engineering software, including AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and electrical engineering systems design software.
Engineering knowledge related to building electrical systems and multiple building types.
Familiarity with architectural design concepts and building codes.
Successful completion of related post-secondary education.
4–7 years of project work experience.
Experience in electrical engineering building systems.

Responsibilities

Design components of buildings, integrating architectural design and complying with applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements.
Evaluate engineering design requirements and create drawings for construction projects.
Perform engineering activities, including calculations, code research, research on materials and building systems, component layouts, and calculations of program and building areas.
Evaluate site conditions, zoning requirements, and site constraints, and conduct site surveys and field reviews to document existing and new construction conditions.
Synthesize, interpret, and coordinate technical information to write engineering specifications for Project Manuals.
Review project products, services, and shop drawings for adherence to project documents, applicable jurisdictional codes, and corporate quality controls.
