About The Position

Nucor Steel West Virginia LLC is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical Engineering Maintenance Co‑op to assist with general maintenance and engineering projects on the greenfield construction project. This co‑op is suited for a motivated individual who can support the installation and commissioning of new equipment while maintaining accurate technical drawings and schematics, participating in hands‑on field activities, and contributing to both independent project work and broader team efforts. The role involves assisting engineers during equipment setup, participating in functional testing and troubleshooting, updating documentation throughout construction and commissioning phases, and completing a standalone engineering project that adds meaningful value to ongoing operations. This position provides exposure to real‑world engineering challenges while allowing the co‑op to collaborate closely with experienced team members. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Rising senior pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Ability to work onsite a minimum of three (3) days per week throughout the duration of the co‑op (up to one year)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or co‑op experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, drives, and instrumentation
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
