About The Position

Flex is seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-Op for its Hollis, NH site. This role reports to the Engineering Manager and offers the opportunity to learn concept generation, design for manufacturing, prototyping, and documentation while applying engineering knowledge to real-world product development problems. The co-op will participate in all aspects of the design process in a fast-paced environment, working on a variety of medical products. Typical daily activities include collaborating with cross-functional teams (industrial design, UI, human factors, software, mechanical), participating in brainstorming sessions, conceptualizing and developing product architectures, creating and supporting design solutions using CAD and analysis software, procuring, assembling, and testing prototypes, measuring and demonstrating design performance, communicating design recommendations, and developing a personal portfolio.

Requirements

  • Eager to learn, contribute, and take on challenges working collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fundamental understanding of electronics and physics.
  • Ability to read and understand a schematic.
  • Hands-on experience in electromechanical assemblies, specifically wiring, soldering, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to modify and build circuitry.
  • Basic circuit design and hardware design.
  • Ability to carry out laboratory experiments, document and communicate results.
  • Skills with tools for signal measurement and capture (oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.).
  • Experience with Labview and/or Arduino as a rapid development tool.
  • Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for the assignment term (Jan-Jun 2027).
  • Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university studying Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
  • 3.0 minimum GPA.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to create a schematic and a simple PCB layout is a plus.
  • Basic programming skills is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of medical products.
  • Collaborate with industrial design, user interface, human factors, software, and mechanical teams.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary brainstorming sessions.
  • Conceptualize, investigate, and develop innovative product architectures, parts, mechanisms, and assemblies.
  • Create and support design solutions using CAD, analysis software, and lab equipment.
  • Procure, assemble, and test breadboards and prototypes to inform and refine designs.
  • Measure and demonstrate design performance.
  • Communicate design value, tradeoffs, and recommendations to internal teams and clients.
  • Develop a personal portfolio of work.
