About The Position

Company, Department: Nova Scotia Power, Power Production- Engineering Location: Dartmouth, NS Type of Employment: Temporary, Full Time (September - December 2026) Closing Date: August 13, 2026 Are you ready to apply your knowledge in the real world? We are currently looking for a Co-op (Electrical) student to join our Tufts Cove Generating station Engineering Team in a temporary position reporting to the Manager – Projects Engineering. During your time with us, you will gain exposure to what it’s like to be part of a team supporting operational planning, maintenance strategy, and continuous improvement initiatives across Nova Scotia Power’s generating stations.

Requirements

  • Are working towards an Electrical Engineering degree (preferred), ideally in the 2nd to 4th year of studies.
  • You are an experienced engineering student with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Possess excellent communication and relationship skills, and an ability to work well with at various levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Having familiarity with risk management, project controls, and project management methodologies will be considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite will be considered an asset (E.g., Excel, SharePoint, Visio).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to capital projects, including: Completing design packages (e.g. engineering drawings, cable schedule, commissioning sheets).
  • Assisting with the procurement and coordination of project materials.
  • Supporting installation and commissioning activities in collaboration with the E&I team.
  • Working with E&I shop, operations, plant engineers to help troubleshoot day to day operating issues.
  • Drafting As-built drawings and procedures as required.
  • You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
