Electrical Engineering Co-Op (Vehicle Wiring)

IntramotevSt. Louis, MO
$60,000 - $80,000Onsite

About The Position

At Intramotev, we are liberating tons of freight from congested highways, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing transportation efficiency. We are deploying self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles to transform freight logistics and bring innovation to our rail network. Based in St. Louis, MO, we are committed to promoting industrial revitalization and building a team that brings the same rigor to our people that we bring to our vehicles. We foster a work environment for every teammate that's welcoming, respectful, and inclusive, with great opportunities for professional growth. Find your future with us. Intramotev is hiring an Electrical Engineering Co-Op (Vehicle Wiring) to build hands-on wire-harness and high-voltage vehicle-wiring experience on our electrical team while you finish your degree — with a direct path into the salaried Associate Electrical Engineer role at graduation, no re-interview required. This is a 100% on-site, hourly, non-exempt co-op based in St. Louis, MO, running the school year (August–May) with hours that flex around your courseload, and moving to full-time hours over the summer and between school years. You'll build wire harnesses, assemble panels and backplanes, and install high-voltage vehicle wiring from run lists, schematics, and BOMs, working alongside our technicians and under engineering mentorship. You'll work within a team of 3–10 engineers and technicians throughout both the co-op and, on satisfactory performance, the converted Associate Electrical Engineer role that follows it. The work is fully shop-floor based in St. Louis, MO, with no regular travel expected.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with enough time remaining before graduation to make the co-op-to-hire arc worthwhile.
  • Foundational interest in high-voltage electrical systems and a willingness to learn safe practice around them — proper isolation, PPE, lockout/tagout — hands-on under supervision; prior HV exposure is a plus, not a bar to entry.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with tools and equipment in a shop-floor environment, and able to follow — or quickly learn to follow — electrical schematics, wire run lists, and technical drawings.
  • Schedule flexibility to work consistent shop-floor hours during the school year around a courseload.
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S., including F-1 students on CPT/OPT; no H-1B or other work-visa sponsorship is offered.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to EV powertrains or high-voltage battery management systems (BMS) through coursework or projects.
  • Prior internship, co-op, or academic-project experience with vehicle wiring, high-voltage systems, or hands-on electrical fabrication.
  • Familiarity with wire-harness engineering tooling — harness drawing/documentation software, connector and pinout definition, revision control of electrical documentation.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as CAN bus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble wire harnesses from run lists, schematics, and BOMs alongside our electrical technicians.
  • Install high-voltage vehicle wiring under engineering mentorship, following proper isolation, PPE, and lockout/tagout practice.
  • Assemble panels and backplanes to spec, correlating schematics and technical drawings to the physical build.
  • Record installation and test results accurately so the next technician or engineer can build on and service your work.
  • Work alongside technicians and engineers on the shop floor, flagging issues early and taking on work beyond your immediate area as needed.

Benefits

  • Medical coverage: We cover 100% of employee medical premiums, plus low-cost dental and vision options.
  • Vacation: Full-time employees enjoy unlimited paid time off.
  • Equity: Full-time employees receive equity in the company.
  • Parental leave: New parents receive paid time off to spend quality time with their family.
