About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Atlanta, Georgia (GA) office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join their Renewable Energy team. This is not a remote position. The role involves leading the design of electrical systems for a variety of renewable energy projects, including generation, energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and building electrical systems. Responsibilities include performing design tasks such as photometrics and lighting, power distribution, and EV charging. The engineer will be responsible for developing design documents and reports, preparing project specifications, cost estimates, and proposals, and supporting the growth of electrical engineering services. The position also involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, and expanding the Renewable Energy practice.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience in an Electrical Engineering role
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE and ANSI Standards
• Willingness to travel to support site visits and client meetings, as needed
• Ability to work in a team; both collaborating with and mentoring junior staff

Nice To Haves

• E.I.T. License (or ability to obtain within 12 months) preferred
• Experience in utility-scale PV, MEP, HVAC, wind generation, energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, microgrid, substation, or data center designs
• Experience in engineering project management
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Experience in power system analysis using SKM, ETAP, or equivalent
• Experience in transient studies using PSCAD, EMTP-RV, or equivalent
• Experience in lighting designs and photometrics using AGI32, or equivalent
• Comfortable programming in Python or MATLAB

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of electrical systems including renewable generation, energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, building electrical, and battery storage projects
• Perform design on a wide variety of projects, such as photometrics and lighting, power distribution, EV charging, and more
• Responsible for the development of design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, equipment schematics and block diagrams, electrical system calculations, and one-line diagrams
• Daily interaction and collaboration on multi-disciplinary teams, with interaction across Kimley-Horn offices
• Prepare project specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and proposals, supporting the growth of electrical engineering service areas in the local market and across the country
• Expected to assist in mentoring, training, and growing a team to expand our Renewable Energy practice
• Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, EV charging infrastructure, equipment selection, solar system sizing, and power analyses
