About The Position

Electrical Engineer II is an intermediate-level engineering role that develops electrical and controls designs for WNA custom environmental test chambers. The position prepares accurate, buildable schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and production documentation, and supports projects through design, build, test, installation, and field support. The role applies PLC-based controls, UL 508A and NEC requirements, manufacturability principles, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement practices. Design releases are reviewed and approved by a Level 3 engineer or Engineering Team Leader.

  • 3–10 years of electrical engineering or industrial controls experience.
  • Experience creating electrical designs and documentation for industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD for electrical schematic development.
  • Knowledge of industrial power distribution, multiphase AC systems, controls, PLC hardware, instrumentation, and control components.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and write technical instructions, specifications, and documentation.
  • Ability to define problems, evaluate data, implement controlled design corrections, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic understanding of refrigeration cycles, core components, and physical properties.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD Electrical experience.
  • ERP/MRP experience for bills of materials and production data management; SAP is a plus.

  • Experience writing and interpreting PLC logic and control systems.
  • Ladder logic and function block PLC experience.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as NEC, NFPA, and UL; UL 508A is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design control panels and power-distribution systems for custom chambers.
  • Size electrical components, protection devices, wiring, and layouts.
  • Create and release electrical schematics, bills of materials, wire data, design packages, and service documentation.
  • Use AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical to update design documentation.
  • Integrate PLC hardware, sensors, motors, heaters, VFDs, and related controls.
  • Apply NEC, NFPA, UL, and UL 508A requirements.
  • Coordinate design details using input from Sales Release and Mechanical Design, and prepare electrical schematics and bills of materials for review with Senior Engineers.
  • Resolve production and panel assembly issues.
