About The Position

Sedgman is seeking an Electrical Engineer for their Phoenix, AZ office. This individual will be responsible for the electrical engineering and design of LV and MV power systems on mining projects. The engineer may act as a project lead engineer, overseeing junior team members. The role involves working on mineral processing projects and associated infrastructure, preparing specifications, developing proposals and conceptual designs, and liaising with internal and external clients, professionals, vendors, and stakeholders across the project lifecycle. A high standard of personal safety and safety in design practices is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 – 7 years of relevant experience as an electrical engineer, with MV and LV power distribution systems
  • Must be eligible to register with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration to obtain the Professional Engineer licensing (P.E.).
  • Proficiency with instrumentation and control systems in industrial applications.
  • Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills highly desired
  • Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an engineering design/consultancy environment is preferred
  • Previous experience in industrial processing or electric utility, and/or mining and metals environment is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical engineering design for mineral processing projects and associated infrastructure (may include: industrial processing, precious metals/iron ore plants, as well as associated services).
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, estimates, and scope of work, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
  • Develop proposals, conceptual designs for Pre-feasibility, Feasibility and Detail engineering phases of projects.
  • Work across a continuous succession of small and large, domestic and international projects as they progress through the project lifecycle - from early concept development, feasibility studies, detailed design, construction, commissioning to operations.
  • Liaise with internal and external clients, other discipline professionals, vendors, and stakeholders within the industry to ensure the timely, accurate and cost-effective delivery of projects.
  • Demonstrate high standard of personal safety and safety in design practices.
