This role is an important part of Business Operations, and it directly drives Revenue and Profit Metrics. It is critical in supporting the organization in efforts to sustain and develop relationships with a wide range of customers including Airframe Manufacturers, Component Manufacturers, and Aircraft Maintenance Organizations.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying an understanding of testing requirements, design alternatives and decisions, and troubleshooting steps to internal and external customers with a wide-ranging set of business interests, technical interests, and English language understanding.
  • Professionally oriented initiative to act independently, develop solutions without waiting for explicit instructions or direction, engage internal resources, and coordinate feedback from Program Management and Operations.
  • Working knowledge interpreting Technical Drawings such as electrical/hydraulic schematics, machine/fabrication drawings, assembly and layout drawings, facility construction, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Industry Standardsincluding but not limited to Machine Risk Assessment, National Electric Code, ARINC-668, Safety of Machinery, Product Safety Notification, Lockout/Tagout, etc.
  • Superior technical skills with Windows, Office Tools, and CAD, especially Excel, Word, Solid Works, and AutoCAD, for integrating data between different business systems into cost models, performing technical analysis of RFQ specifications, and creating charts/graphs to convey equipment capability and performance.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset understanding that the tools and techniques which allow for present success can also be the hinderance for moving to the next level of performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or similar.

  • Experience with Stands testing Aircraft Components is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Review technical documents, including the customer statement of work and Unit Under Test (UUT) test procedures. Establish equipment performance and tolerance criteria. From the criteria, perform Analysis of Alternatives, and justify preliminary plans.
  • Assess program risks, identify impact, and prepare/perform mitigation plans for customer and internal departments.
  • Design simple to moderately complex metering and control solutions including signal conditioning, communication, power distribution, pump/motor control, etc. Interaction with a variety of technical disciplines is required for success including Motor control systems ranging from fractional HP to 1500HP and higher, PLC, Remote I/O and similar Electrical/Electronic Systems, Hydraulic, Fuel, and Pneumatic Systems, System/Executive Software and Application Software.
  • Pick suitable key resources that meet testing requirements while minimizing cost.
  • Support significant design decisions by calculations, simulation, and prototyping. Critical specifications must have documented analysis demonstrating design compliance.
  • Lead effective technical design reviews and contribute to improving design knowledge by thoughtful contributions.
  • Writing application code that commands the machine and interprets the results (typically Visual Basic, NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, PLC) is a helpful plus.
  • Generate internal documentation package (bill of material, schematics, assembly and outline drawings) to manufacture the test solution.
  • Support procurement and build activities providing expedited feedback and guidance.
  • Perform hardware and software integration testing then verify conformance with program and aircraft component specifications.
  • Train internal resources and customers on how to use the equipment. Travel to customer facilities to oversee installation and perform commissioning testing.
  • Support existing customers with troubleshooting instructions and repair/replacement guidance to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
