About The Position

The company's roots date back to 1928, and it has grown into a global market leader thanks to innovative design, product functionality, and overall quality and safety. Currently, we are seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer to join our team of Elevator at Garaventa Lift at Surrey, BC. This is a 100% on-site position. We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, testing, and optimizing electrical systems and controls for Wheelchair Stair lifts/ elevator products, ensuring compliance with industry codes and customer specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Min of 2 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in elevator or industrial automation sectors
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar design tools
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and elevator control logic
  • Strong understanding of safety codes and standards (CSA B44, ASME A17.1)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Eligibility for P.Eng. designation in British Columbia is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control systems for elevator products
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers and software developers to integrate electrical components into complete systems
  • Select and specify electrical components (motors, drives, sensors, PLCs, etc.)
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure designs meet CSA, ASME, and other applicable standards
  • Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems
  • Prepare documentation for manufacturing, installation, and service teams
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and product lifecycle management
