•$132,000 - $189,000

About The Position

The Pixel Electrical Engineering team owns the electrical design of Pixel products throughout their lifecycle, from early architecture and design through bring-up, validation, manufacturing, and product launch. The team develops consumer electronics and combines Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to create mobile experiences for users worldwide. This role contributes to electrical design and validation for future phone products, with a focus on system power, charging circuitry, and digital interfaces. It includes subsystem design, schematic capture, signal integrity simulation in collaboration with the SI team, PCB and FPC layout collaboration, circuit validation, data analysis, and debugging. The engineer also works with cross-functional teams to advance designs from concept into production and may contribute to design and lab tools, automation, data analysis tools, and test fixtures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with consumer electronics.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals in several areas, such as high-speed digital, hardware bring-up and debug, schematic capture or PCB layout, power analysis, power design, and lab tools.
  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout tools, or lab techniques such as soldering, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition.
  • Proficiency with both schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
  • Knowledge of system power, power regulators, Python scripting, C++, and Cadence/Allegro.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills, with focused attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to electrical design and validation of future phone products, focusing on system power, charging circuitry, and digital interfaces.
  • Perform electrical engineering tasks related to subsystem design, including schematic capture.
  • Perform circuit signal integrity simulation with the signal integrity team.
  • Work with the CAD team on layouts for rigid PCBs, FPCs, and hybrid rigid/FPC assemblies.
  • Plan and execute circuit validation, including functional and parametric validation.
  • Review and analyze validation data, and debug or resolve functional and parametric issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to move designs from concept into production.
  • Contribute to the enhancement or development of design and lab tools, including schematic and layout scripting tools, lab validation tools, data post-processing and analysis tools, lab automation, and fixture design and realization.
