About The Position

Nexus Engineering Group is an employee-owned, full-service firm seeking an Electrical Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and analyzing technical data to develop basic electrical engineering designs for client projects, including power distribution, one-line drawings, load studies, and equipment selection. You will prepare these designs for industrial and power delivery projects and submit them to senior engineering staff for review. This position involves both analytical design work and field visits to client facilities to gather data and assess equipment. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • 1+ year of experience in power distribution, utility coordination, or control system calculations and design.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and design principles, including power and electrical distribution.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, standards, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States and able to maintain that authorization throughout employment without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD 2-D CAD, with 3-D CAD a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or active progress toward professional licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze technical data to prepare basic electrical engineering designs for client projects.
  • Develop power and electrical distribution designs, including electrical one-line drawings.
  • Perform electrical load studies and the supporting engineering calculations.
  • Prepare power equipment lists and support selection of transformers, switchgear, motors, UPS, and related equipment.
  • Develop area classification documentation and other electrical drawings, including lighting and heat-tracing (HT) designs.
  • Apply industry, client, utility, and company standards to your engineering work products.
  • Submit completed technical work to senior engineering staff for review and approval before it is presented to the client.
  • Visit client facilities to collect field data and support design development — including walking sites, standing, climbing ladders, and lifting as the work requires.
