About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an Associate - Electrical Engineer I/II in our Chandler, AZ facility. Team members work in multi-discipline integrated product teams (IPTs) on a variety of electrical subsystems and components on the interceptor. As part of the GPI team, you will contribute to the development of a new capability to the war fighter. The Chandler group performs cradle-to-grave engineering on the majority of their launch vehicles. They are working on approximately 15 separate vehicles at any given time, among them are GPI, Antares, Minotaur, Pegasus, GMD, Sentinel, and many more. Their products serve a variety of purposes including ISS (International Space Station) cargo resupply, deploying defense satellites, developing missile interceptor technology, and providing much needed target vehicles to better hone our military capability. This means you can be part of the design, operations planning, ground support development, analysis, testing, integration, launch operations and more. There is plenty to do and learn that will reinforce your existing skillsets while also helping you learn what it takes to get a rocket to lift off and achieve orbit. Our department has a good variety of sub-groups to choose from where you can roll up your sleeves to become an industry expert or opt to pursue a more well-rounded approach while learning a little about everything. This is a dual level Posting and may be filled at the level 2 or 3. Electrical Engineer 2 or Principal Electrical Engineer 3 is required to provide electrical engineering support for common hardware products at Northrop Grumman Space Systems.

Requirements

  • BS in engineering and 2 Years' Experience or 0 Years Experience and Masters
  • Electrical engineering preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Security clearance is required
  • Proven experience in CAD drafting for cable systems—electrical, telecom, or fiber optic.
  • Proficiency in Teamcenter, Visio, cable design tool or equivalent CAD tools.
  • Understanding of cable installation standards, electrical codes, and industry best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating across engineering and field teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt designs to real-world constraints.
  • Critical skills for success in the position are good communication (verbal & written), mentoring, teamwork, troubleshooting, circuit simulation/analysis, and data reduction (MATLAB or Python).

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed cable layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams using CAD software (Teamcenter, Visio).
  • Translate engineering specifications into precise, build-ready designs for power, telecom, or fiber optic cable systems.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, field technicians, and construction teams to ensure designs meet technical documentation requirements
  • Maintain and update design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Optimize cable routing for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and ease of installation.
  • Review and revise designs based on feedback, site conditions, and evolving project requirements.
