About The Position

Farcast is hiring an early-career Electrical Engineer to help develop next-generation phased array antennas for satellite communications. The hands-on role may involve RF, mixed-signal, digital, or power electronics, with work spanning antenna circuitry and control and interface boards. The engineer will contribute to schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, and testing of high-density electronics. The position offers opportunities across multiple engineering teams, with candidates matched to roles aligned with their skills and interests. The engineer will work with experienced colleagues in RF, systems, mechanical, software, and manufacturing disciplines and gain exposure to the product development cycle from initial design through production.

Requirements

  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium, OrCAD, Allegro, or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of analog, digital, RF, or power electronics, with hands-on experience in at least one of these areas.
  • Familiarity with signal integrity, power integrity, transmission lines, and basic PCB design principles.
  • Hands-on experience testing and debugging electronic circuits using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Basic understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Applicants and employees must hold U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience designing and laying out high-density PCBs, including HDI technology and fine-pitch BGA components.
  • Familiarity with RF design principles, transmission lines, impedance matching, and RF PCB layout.
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces, signal integrity, or power management circuitry.
  • Hands-on experience testing RF systems, active antenna modules, or phased arrays.
  • Familiarity with PCB manufacturing, DFM/DFT, and transitioning electronics from prototype to production.
  • Experience with GNSS/INS systems, including antennas and associated electronics.
  • Experience developing electronics for high-reliability applications, including aerospace, aviation, or automotive systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design schematics and PCB layouts for RF, mixed-signal, digital, and power electronics, depending on areas of expertise.
  • Contribute to component selection and engineering design decisions, considering electrical performance, power consumption, thermal constraints, and cost.
  • Support PCB and PCBA fabrication, assembly, and bring-up with internal teams and external manufacturing partners.
  • Develop and execute test plans, use laboratory equipment to validate circuit performance, troubleshoot issues, and improve designs.
  • Collaborate with RF, systems, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers to integrate electronics into complete antenna systems.
  • Support design verification, reliability testing, and the transition of products from prototype to production.

Benefits

  • Meaningful company stock options and ownership.
  • Unlimited PTO plus 20+ days of company shutdown.
  • Parental leave designed by parents for parents.
  • 401(k) with 5% company matching.
  • $13,600 in annual perks for wellness, commute, and meals.
