About The Position

BSI is hiring an Electrical Engineer to develop functional and in-circuit test assemblies supporting the wind and solar industries. This in-person, full-time role uses a broad range of technical skills to provide customers with timely, creative, and reliable solutions. The engineer will design, research, test, and improve electronic assemblies for green-energy power applications; develop PCBs using industry-standard design tools; research hardware components for automated test fixtures; and provide technical evaluation in support of production. The role also involves estimating project materials, labor, and time, evaluating industrial electrical systems and components, and communicating complex technical information to technical and non-technical colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university, including IEA Washington Accord programs.
  • 2–3 years of relevant work experience, including internship or cooperative program experience.
  • Experience in electronic circuit design, layout, debugging, and testing.
  • Proficiency with a full-featured EDA software suite.
  • Ability to analyze and improve electronic assemblies, sometimes without design documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Embedded firmware experience in C/C++, preferably targeting ARM/STM32.
  • Working knowledge of embedded protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and USB.
  • Comfort with hardware bring-up and debugging using JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Utility programming experience in Python.
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls interfaces and protocols including EtherCAT, Modbus, PMBus, PROFINET, and RS-232/422/485.
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC converter topologies.
  • Experience with standard lab equipment such as power supplies, DMMs, and signal generators.

Responsibilities

  • Design, research, test, and improve in-house and third-party-designed electronic assemblies used in green-energy power applications.
  • Develop PCBs end to end, including schematic capture, circuit simulation, PCB layout, and fabrication exports, using tools such as KiCad and Altium Designer.
  • Research and design hardware assembly components for automated test fixtures.
  • Perform research and technical evaluation in support of the production team.
  • Estimate material, labor, and time requirements for projects.
  • Evaluate industrial electrical systems, projects, components, and applications using knowledge of electricity and materials.
  • Communicate and present complex technical information to technicians and non-technical team members.

Benefits

  • Health insurance
  • Vision insurance
