About The Position

This role involves more than just designing; it focuses on investigating client problems, developing multiple solutions, and implementing the chosen solution. The work primarily involves renovations of MEP/FP systems, presenting unique challenges due to existing building constraints. The company prides itself on problem-solving, with 95% of clients referring them. They serve government and educational institutions, often working in historical buildings. The position reports to the Vice President in charge of electrical staff in the Virginia Beach Office.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Architectural Engineering (Electrical / Lighting focus).
• 4 to 9 years’ experience in lighting and power design.
• Experience in production of construction documents and follow-on construction services.
• Performing field surveys, and preparing code analyses, calculations, equipment selections, and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficient in either AutoCAD or Revit.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to conduct day-long field surveys outdoors and indoors in conditioned and unconditioned spaces, including walking up to 10-20k steps in a day, climbing up and down a 6-foot ladder, kneeling, squatting, and bending.
• Ability to obtain site access at client locations.
• Ability to travel up to 12 nights in a year, in addition to day-long field surveys.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AGI32, SKM and/or Easypower a plus

Responsibilities

• Dive into designing quality projects from day one.
• Lead system design, including AGI lighting and power calculations and layouts.
• Surveying existing conditions.
• Assisting in project management and coordination.
• Tackle clients’ problems.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
• Help maintain our 95% referral rate and high contract performance ratings.
