About The Position

Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to join our Boston, MA office. This role will support the function enterprise-wide. We specialize in innovative designs for a variety of facilities including High Rise, Mission Critical, Multi-Unit Housing, Commercial Office, Higher Education, Transportation, Adaptive Reuse, and Life Science facilities.

Requirements

3 to 6 years of experience in designing electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, lighting systems, both interior and exterior, and lighting controls.
Knowledge should include familiarity with short circuit, arc flash coordination, design of interior and exterior lighting, and photometric calculations.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of applicable codes including energy conservation.
Proficiency with Revit design software with at least 1 year experience of formal design use.

Nice To Haves

Background in commercial and healthcare facilities strongly preferred.
PE or EIT certification preferred.
LEED accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare calculations for feeders, services, short circuit, transformer size.
Design building electrical distribution, fire alarm and security systems.
Perform on-site surveys of existing electrical equipment.
Determine schedules and details required for the project. Review with project engineer.
Attend job meetings as required.
Ensure flow of information between disciplines.
Assist in writing of reports and feasibility studies.
Support developing electrical standards.
Prepare cost estimates and specifications.
