Electrical Engineer (Mid to Senior)

ExtensisHR•Seattle, WA

About The Position

Eclipse Space Technologies Corporation is hiring an Electrical Engineer to own the architecture, design, and delivery of critical satellite electronics that enable communication and coordination between subsystems, including computing, networking, and ADCS. The role spans the full hardware development lifecycle, from system-level design and requirements capture through schematic capture, PCB development, prototyping, bring-up, verification, manufacturing, and flight readiness. The engineer will address cross-system requirements, select components, develop integration strategies, troubleshoot complex hardware issues, define test strategies, and guide designs through production and qualification. The position also involves coordinating across mechanical, software, systems, thermal, test engineering, supply chain, RF communications, and EPS disciplines to deliver integrated satellite hardware. The engineer will support environmental and functional testing, lead qualification and lifetime testing at component, subsystem, and vehicle levels, and work with suppliers and manufacturers to deliver production-ready hardware. Some travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with full-cycle electronics hardware design and development of new hardware products; aerospace or other high-reliability experience is ideal.
  • Experience designing and implementing mixed-signal, high-speed digital circuit boards involving FPGAs, microcontrollers, DDR4/LPDDR4 memory, multi-GHz SerDes such as Ethernet or PCIe, power supplies such as DC-DC converters and LDOs, ADCs/DACs, op-amps, precision analog components, and I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, and GPIO interfaces.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
  • Proficiency in at least one schematic/layout tool, such as Altium or Xpedition.
  • Skill with lab bring-up and debugging tools, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers.
  • Must be a U.S. person: U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of radiation effects and degradation of electronic components in space environments.
  • Familiarity with spaceflight qualification standards, such as ECSS, NASA-STD, or MIL-STD.
  • Working knowledge of Python and C/C++ for test automation or embedded bring-up.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly develop high-reliability electronics for satellites.
  • Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, hardware bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, testing, and on-orbit performance of complex electrical designs.
  • Support environmental and functional testing of subsystems, including TVAC and vibration testing, to correlate models for satellite mission environments.
  • Collaborate with engineers in adjacent disciplines, including mechanical, thermal, software, test engineering, supply chain, RF communications, and EPS, to deliver integrated hardware.
  • Define and lead qualification and lifetime testing at the component, subsystem, and vehicle levels.
  • Interface with suppliers and manufacturers to deliver production-ready hardware.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues and guide designs through production, qualification, and flight readiness.
