About The Position

The Electrical Engineer V (Prototyping Electrical Test Engineer) builds and tests prototypes and supports engineering teams across Hardware Engineering, Research and Development, and Industrial Design. The team rapidly builds and iterates polished, high-fidelity prototypes and development platforms to express design intent and user experience using appropriate tools and techniques. This role is the primary electrical point of contact for hardware testing and troubleshooting, partnering with engineers to identify root causes and develop preventive and corrective actions. The position is onsite in Sunnyvale, California, for an initial six-month duration.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience with prototypes or bench electrical assembly, bring-up, electromechanical integration, and electrical and mechanical debugging.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and locate PCB components using design schematics and layout viewers.
  • Hands-on experience debugging with related equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Ability to perform PCBA and FPC rework in an electrical lab environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and prioritize project workload independently against timeline constraints.
  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability, critical thinking, teamwork, and attention to detail.
  • Full-cycle board ownership.
  • Hands-on lab and rework proficiency.
  • Breadth across electrical engineering domains.

Nice To Haves

  • Systems-level engineering development and test experience with complex integrated electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with system-level electrical design, including circuit design, system bring-up, integration, and debugging.
  • Experience specifying components, building schematics, completing board layouts, assembling, testing, debugging, and integrating designs into opto-electro-mechanical systems.
  • Soldering experience, including fine-pitch devices, 0201 or 0402 components, BGA/CSP, and power-component rework.
  • Experience with parts programming, such as FPGA or Flash, and ability to take oscilloscope measurements.
  • FPGA capability.
  • Wearables or small-form-factor consumer hardware background.
  • Firmware or scripting skills to support self-service bring-up.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary electrical point of contact for hardware testing and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with engineers to root-cause failures and develop preventive and corrective actions.
  • Debug hardware using equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Perform PCBA and FPC rework in an electrical lab environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, architecture, product design, NPI, and research.
  • Execute multiple workstreams simultaneously and independently balance and prioritize workload to meet project timelines.
  • Set up, support, and maintain hardware in a lab environment.
  • Generate complete prototype assembly and test documentation, including test setup details, and share results.
