About The Position

Cytonome is a biotechnology engineering and manufacturing company that designs and develops cutting edge optical-based cell sorting platforms. We offer powerful application-specific technologies for cell therapy, life science, and industrial markets. We work closely with our clients to understand their needs and provide their ideal solution. The Cytonome team is seeking a highly talented and passionate individual to take part in the product life cycle of pioneering cell purification instruments. The Electrical Engineer will be involved in sustaining design and documentation of legacy products, along with design transfer to manufacturing for new product designs and upgrades. All designs should be executed with cost, reliability, and sustainability in mind. This includes both Genesis and Gigasort programs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years utilizing Altium to design PCB’s & PCBA’s
  • Experience customizing Altium Templates, Component Libraries, etc.
  • Experience with developing electrical schematics, wiring tables, and cable pin-outs
  • Experience designing wiring and cable harnesses
  • Familiarity with IEC 61010
  • Familiarity with EMI/RFI testing and certification
  • Cable Harness Expertise (for accurate design, reverse engineering and component identification purposes)
  • Ability to create design specs
  • Experience with Microsoft office suite of programs
  • Experience with electro-mechanical design

Nice To Haves

  • IPC certification a plus
  • Experience with medical devices a plus
  • Familiarity with board design
  • Experience with board layout
  • Hands on experience with rework / soldering of PCBAs and cable assemblies
  • Ability to self-organize and work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to define, document and validate assembly procedures
  • Hands-on tool and fixture development skills; with focus on Quality Assurance
  • Experience with complex assemblies
  • Familiarity with precision instrumentation
  • Experience conducting system level testing a plus
  • Understanding optical components a plus
  • Experience with medical devices a plus
  • Excellent written and oral skills

Responsibilities

  • Documentation of all wiring schematics used on Gigasort and Genesis programs
  • Specify and document cable lengths and pinouts
  • Assist in design reviews of tools, fixtures, and assemblies
  • Interact regularly with Management to communicate status of milestones and impacts of technical hurdles
  • Adhere to applicable laws, regulations and Company’s policies, procedures, including quality management (ISO-9001, ISO-13485, FDA QSR, GMP, etc.), environmental, safety and health (OSHA, EPA, DOT, MWRA, etc.)
  • Documentation for wiring
  • PCBA layout and documentation
  • Design and Document Test Fixtures
  • Specify, Test, and release equivalent replacements for Obsolete components
