About The Position

IS4S is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hardware Electrical Engineer with expertise in high-speed, embedded, and RF electronics for military projects. An immediate area of focus will is open architectures of SOSA VNX+ Software-Defined Radio systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of advanced hardware systems, contributing to the success of mission-critical applications. Applicants must clearly state citizenship and any active clearance in a cover letter or on the resume.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in relevant tools and software for schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation (e.g., Altium, Cadence, SPICE).
  • Experience with testing and validation of hardware systems, including thermal and environmental testing.
  • Familiarity with military standards and specifications related to hardware design.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with wireless design and basic principles of RF and antenna theory.
  • Understanding of electronics thermal management
  • Experience with software-defined radios (SDR) and frameworks, such as GNU radio
  • Coding skills with VHDL and C/C++
  • Design and analysis experience using industry standard tools (COMSOL, ANSYS, Matlab, Python, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop RF, embedded, and high-speed electronics for sensing, communication, and other equipment.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, analysis, and simulation for new hardware designs, ensuring compliance with military standards and requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Generate detailed hardware specifications, schematics, and PCB layouts for advanced hardware boards.
  • Perform prototype testing, troubleshooting, and validation of RF and power electronics systems.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations.
