Electrical Engineer - Mixed Signal

Bright Silicon Technologies•Pleasanton, CA
•$110,000 - $190,000•Onsite

About The Position

Bright Silicon Technologies commercializes its Lightfield Directing Array (LDA), a semiconductor-scale micromirror platform for dynamically routing optical connections in AI, high-performance computing, and communications systems. Conventional electronic and optical networks are constrained by power consumption, switching speed, and scalability. Bright Silicon’s MEMS-based platform provides scalable, low-latency, high-mobility backbone networks for physical AI, autonomous systems, and robotics, realizes neutral atom quantum computing and networking deployment, and enables massive GPU/TPU cluster size expansion. We are looking for an EE to own the development of the core analog, mixed-signal, and control electronics for BST’s LDA technology. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in our Pleasanton, CA office to deploy the next generation of optical MEMS technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field or related experience
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in full-stack PCB design; detailed specification, design, hardware bringup, and integration
  • Experience with ECAD tools: Altium, Allegro/OrCAD, Eagle, KiCad, or others
  • Experience with electronic test equipment and troubleshooting hardware issues
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools for analog, digital, or RF designs
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with a cross-functional, distributed team
  • Self-starter mentality with a proactive approach to uncovering risks and managing dependencies
  • System-oriented, with the ability and desire to dive deep into the smallest detail
  • U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual), as the role involves CUI and ITAR material

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Custom ASIC / silicon design, verification, tape-out, test, or system integration and implementation
  • Board designs incorporating FPGAs, custom silicon, and/or data acquisition systems
  • FPGA/RTL development
  • Advanced electronics packaging design
  • High-voltage circuit design and modeling (>200V) at the chip, board, or system level
  • Embedded systems - architecture, firmware development
  • Experience in applying controls theory principles
  • Semiconductor fabrication or MEMS technology

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of electronics and PCBAs for closed-loop MEMS control in BST’s LDA products
  • Design projects: Highly parallel actuation and sense circuits for closed-loop MEMS control; Test and qualification platforms for custom mixed-signal ASICs; and MEMS calibration and measurement systems
  • "Get it to actually work" – Develop solutions for PLM and scaling to production, troubleshoot and diagnose field issues, and design for compatibility with relevant environmental, EMC, and regulatory standards
  • Integrate custom FPGA and ASIC designs – including producing functional specifications, developing test plans and infrastructure, and integrating these components into board-level designs
  • Collaborate across technical domains by working with BST’s mechanical, production, software, and product teams to: scope system-level designs, capture subsystem requirements, and integrate working electronics to ship LDA systems.
  • Source and manage external customers and vendors
  • Produce technical documentation for internal use and external release
