About The Position

CANUSA EPC is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead its electrical engineering department. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for both people and technical performance. The manager will lead and develop engineers and designers, manage resources, establish standards, oversee quality and budgets, and act as a senior technical authority for clients and project teams. The company is a growing, mid-sized EPC firm focused on complex energy projects in North America, including CO₂ capture, natural gas processing, compression, helium recovery, and low-carbon power generation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
  • Approximately 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience within oil & gas, natural gas processing, power generation, petrochemical, industrial energy, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineers and/or designers.
  • Strong industrial electrical engineering and power distribution experience.
  • Experience managing technical deliverables, project priorities, and engineering resources.
  • Strong understanding of hazardous-area electrical design.
  • Working knowledge of applicable standards such as NFPA 70/NEC, IEEE, API, and related electrical codes and standards.
  • Strong technical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Engineering Manager, Electrical Department Manager, Discipline Manager, or Lead Electrical Engineer.
  • EPC or engineering consulting experience.
  • Experience with natural gas processing or compression facilities.
  • Carbon capture experience.
  • Gas turbine or reciprocating engine power generation experience.
  • Helium or cryogenic processing experience.
  • Experience with ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar power system analysis software.
  • Experience with MV/HV substations and distribution systems.
  • Experience with large VFD and motor applications.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC/CSA C22.1).
  • Experience supporting field construction, commissioning, startup, or troubleshooting.
  • Current Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in at least one U.S. state strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Electrical Engineers and Designers.
  • Manage department staffing, workload, priorities, and resource allocation across projects.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding electrical team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support individual career and professional development.
  • Identify staffing needs based on current and upcoming project demands.
  • Establish clear expectations for technical quality, accountability, communication, and project execution.
  • Build a collaborative team culture that encourages technical growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Work with senior leadership to support the continued growth and development of the electrical department.
  • Serve as a senior electrical technical authority for CANUSA EPC projects.
  • Establish and maintain electrical engineering standards, specifications, procedures, templates, and design tools.
  • Oversee electrical engineering quality and consistency across projects.
  • Lead and review complex electrical engineering designs and calculations.
  • Provide final technical review of critical electrical deliverables.
  • Lead or review power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, motor starting, and harmonic analysis.
  • Oversee design and specification of MV/LV power distribution systems, substations, transformers, switchgear and MCCs, large motors and VFDs, emergency and standby generation, grounding systems, and electrical heat tracing.
  • Provide technical leadership for hazardous-area electrical design.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and CANUSA EPC quality expectations.
  • Manage electrical engineering resource loading budgets, schedules, deliverables, and resource forecasts.
  • Monitor project performance and identify potential scope, schedule, or budget issues.
  • Coordinate electrical resources across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to establish scope, schedules, staffing plans, and engineering estimates.
  • Support proposals, project estimates, and business development activities.
  • Review electrical scope changes and help evaluate impacts to project cost and schedule.
  • Support equipment procurement and vendor technical evaluations.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design and constructability reviews.
  • Serve as a client-facing electrical engineering leader for CANUSA EPC.
  • Build strong working relationships with client engineering and operations teams.
  • Lead electrical discussions during client and vendor meetings.
  • Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Help resolve complex engineering and project execution challenges.
  • Represent CANUSA EPC's electrical engineering capabilities during proposals and client discussions.
