Electrical Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced solutions, is looking for a Computer or Electrical Engineering student to join its Applied Research and Technology (ART) Microelectronics Technology team. The intern will contribute to the development of cutting-edge defense solutions, leveraging skills in the design, implementation, verification, and integration of high-performance digital FPGAs & ASICs.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship.
- Experience with RTL coding and simulation in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, team with engineers of a variety of skills and backgrounds, and matrix into projects with aggressive schedules and frequent milestones.
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Nice To Haves
- Experience using ASIC and/or FPGA design tools (e.g. Modelsim, Quartus, Vivado or other FPGA-specific tools).
- Experience with debugging and root cause investigations on hardware using hardware schematics, integrated FPGA vendor debug tools, and digital lab equipment.
- Digital circuit architecture and resource tradeoffs.
- Some background in signal processing and/or information assurance.
- Familiarity with the signal processing system simulation & analysis tools (e.g. Matlab, Simulink).
- Familiarity with revision control concepts and tools (e.g. Git, Subversion).
Responsibilities
- Support requirements capture and ASIC / FPGA digital architecture.
- Implement ASIC / FPGA digital design using RTL.
- Support verification and system integration of ASIC / FPGA implementations.
