About The Position

Develop and oversee the engineering and design efforts for the development of engineering drawings/packages for all phases of a project from the feasibility study to construction. This role involves developing electrical specifications, leading the creation of drawings for power distribution systems, reviewing engineering packages for accuracy and quality, and developing project scopes and execution plans. The engineer will also be responsible for gathering data, conducting field evaluations, sizing electrical equipment, preparing technical bid evaluations, coordinating heat trace system design, and applying hazardous area classification methodology. Additionally, the position requires performing electrical system modeling and studies, interpreting project requirements, communicating scope to other disciplines, interacting with clients, developing budget estimates, and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in a related technical field from an accredited University with at least six (6) years’ experience in industrial, petrochemical, chemical or utility industries or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Proficient in developing electrical specifications, such as generators and motors, power transformers, power circuit breakers, medium low voltage power distribution equipment (switchgear, MCCs, etc.) and mentor junior level engineers.
  • Proficient with medium and low voltage power distribution equipment (Switchgear, transformers, MCCs, etc.).
  • Proficient with MCC, switchgear and other equipment control systems.
  • Proficient in interpreting electrical drawings, such as one-lines, three-lines and schematics.
  • Proficient in developing drawings for new or modifications of existing power distribution systems including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams. Able to check work of other engineers.
  • Proficient in reviewing and checking engineering packages for accuracy and quality, independently.
  • Proficient in gathering data from electrical equipment and systems. Conduct field evaluations to support project work involving new and existing power systems.
  • Proficient in electrical equipment, cable, cable tray and conduit sizing.
  • Proficient in developing engineering budget estimates and defining scope of work for prospective projects.
  • Experienced in developing construction scopes of work, front-end engineering and design project scopes and project execution plans, independently.
  • Experienced in preparation of technical bid evaluations, independently.
  • Experienced with Electrical Heat Trace Systems.
  • Experienced with Hazardous Area Classification methodology, including determination of classified areas, equipment requirements, etc. Requires limited supervision.
  • Experienced in performing electrical system modeling and studies using ETAP, SKM, etc. Able to use field and manufacturer data to build models, independently.
  • Experienced in implementing recommended protection settings and generation of protection relay setting files.
  • Ability to interpret and define project requirements and effectively communicate scope of work to other discipline engineers and designers.
  • Ability to interact directly with client personnel and project managers to discuss project scope, options, recommendations and to request data required to execute projects.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements in the related discipline.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Software capability: MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PDF Editor software.
  • Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement.
  • Registered Engineer Intern (E.I.), required.
  • TWIC card (or ability to obtain).

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), preferred.
